Jus Soli (Latin for “right of the earth”) is the title of the sculpture. It is one of the
principles used in the determination of citizenship, usually outside
Europe. When a child is born, he or she acquires citizenship directly in the country of birth.
The work of art is both a pair of legs and a root. Both anchored and mobile. One has
your roots with you wherever you go. The work consists of many hours of sometimes
machine-made and hand-sewn roots. The roots consist of mixed textiles that
upholstered and waxed.
