“Tautology” är ett konstverk som skapas på plats med kulspetspenna. Konstnären Guido Mitidieri sitter vid ett bord i fyra dagar, sex timmar om dagen och ritar streck, ackompanjerad av det monotona klickandet från en metronom. Genom processen växer bilder sakta fram.
Allmänheten bjuds in att interagera med konstnären. Interaktionen tar 14 minuter och går ut på att du sätter dig mitt emot konstnären, först sju minuter med stängda ögon sedan sju minuter med öppna ögon. I slutet av interaktionen kommer konstnären ställa frågor om vilka tankar och känslor som väcktes. Svaren antecknas och spelas in. Det är frivilligt att svara på konstnärens frågor.

”I draw lines.
Many currents in thought have contributed to building the world and still make the faith in History alive. Isn’t it true that we are constantly immersed in these currents and cling to their lines as shipwrecked people cling to life preservers? Just like the feeling of belonging to a string of thought comforts us and offers us the work of men and women as a front-line against the unpredictable approaching future, or a bloodline makes us feel included or –at least– a bit understood. What the artist Guido Mitidieri, in art gu mi, does is this concept’s radicalization: he draws lines. Through the relentless repetition of a proper sequence of gestures in a measure of time and space, he produces automatic conceptual monochromatic artworks and invites us to carefully look at this process, maybe to carefully look at what lies in front of our eyes every day? But what does lie beyond these lines? Are they really what they seem to be, and can they keep their promises?”
